Meet The Manager

Katie Glover

1. why are you in the care sector.

From leaving school and taking care of my late great granny Mary. I knew that becoming a care assistant to the elderly was what I was going to do. Caring for the elderly and making a positive difference to their lives on a daily basis is such a rewarding and satisfying feeling. Throughout my 18 plus years in the care sector it has brought me and my children so much joy and happiness into our life’s. To be able to and continue to progress in my career in the care sector. I have had the pleasure of being a care assistant, senior, lead senior, deputy and now the home manager to the Langdales care home. Knowing that I will continue to better myself to be able to give our residents the best person cantered care, joy and happiness throughout the rest of their years I’d say is the most rewarding experience I will ever have the pleasure to be a part of.

2. what do you enjoy the most about the care sector.

What I enjoy the most about the care sector is that no two days are the same and each day is a chance to make a change in someone’s life for the better. Every day brings such joy and happiness to me knowing that I make a difference in another person’s life. As the saying goes and is a very popular saying within my family is treat others how you and your family would love to be treated. Care has been a big part of my life and brings such happiness to me.

3. what experience do you have to work in the care sector

My experience in the care sector started with taking care of my great granny then onto in house care homes that taught me so much knowledge so that I can do the best that can in my job role. I have learnt many techniques in good person cantered care throughout the years that has led me to go on to working and helping the elderly life a fulfilled life. I have experience in residential, dementia, end of life and nursing. Throughout the years I have gained my NVQ two and three in health and social care and continue to go onto my NVQ level five.

In February 2022 I started my care journey at the Langdales care home. I began as a night senior and with my experience and good skills and knowledge on medication and leading a team I was promoted to lead senior. After 6 months in my new role, I felt I could give more to our residents and the day carers would benefit from a team leader such as myself. In February 2023 this year the opportunity came up for the manager position I just knew I had to go for it after passing my interviews I then became the manager I love every aspect of the job. My role is to keep our residents and staff safe and well and keep the home functioning to the best standards it deserves.
